These Serpentine stones were ethically extracted in Junín, Peru, and are rated AA Grade for their exquisite color and minimal fracture lines, which are the result of their having been polished by hand (not tumbled).
Serpentine is sometimes confused with Jade (even called "new Jade" by some) because of its similarity in color, but Serpentine is a softer stone (easier to carve), with a more waxy feel. In comparison to Jade, Serpentine is lighter and has a mottled, spotted or veiny appearance (resembling snakeskin), whereas Jade (Jadite; Nephrite) is denser and heavier, with more uniform, vibrant colors, sometimes translucent.
